Episode 39:
You Are A Limited Resource
(Part 1)
Hey friend!
I really want you to listen to this podcast. I want you to REALLY hear my heart for you, because you’re believing lies about yourself that aren’t just affecting you, but these lies are leaking out into your relationship with your partner and your kids, too.
If you struggle with negativity or self-doubt, I can relate. Change is really hard anytime, but when you feel like an imposter it’s difficult to maintain any positive growth. You start a health and weight loss plan, but then the weekend hits and you fall apart. You decide you’re not going to yell at your kids but then your day goes sideways and you’re stomping around the house shouting out commands. I’ve been to ALL of those places.
Maybe you feel like you’ve tried everything already, but real, lasting change comes from learning how to take care of you first- not last! Drink as much as your pour. Fill your cup. The cute sayings are true, but we’ve missed the boat on the concept of self-care and we’re barely staying afloat. The good news, though, is that I can help you learn to take care of yourself.
Self-Care is being good to yourself. Taking care of yourself. And really hear me- Being a GOOD FRIEND to yourself. Would you love to have a friend that berated you constantly but then bought you flowers? Told you how stupid you were but then gave you a pedicure? Obviously, this is not a healthy relationship. You wouldn’t want this for your kids. So why do you talk to yourself that way?
You are a limited resource. I’m getting real on the podcast and I hope this is the wake up you need to actually change your mind and be kind to yourself.
I love you, and I want you to live authentically, connect with your kids, and reach your goals.
If you’ve never experienced coaching before, I want to offer you a complimentary mini-session to see how it feels. It’s pretty amazing, actually 🙂

Running a Home Business?
Whether you’re running a side hustle or a full time business, you might be treating it too much like a hobby to get the results you want. Not having a boss leaning over your shoulder means you can talk yourself into naps, social media spirals, and “working” lunches that are really just an excuse to visit friends. You know I’m right! I’m sharing what I learned the hard way, so you can maximize your time and be the boss of you!

Racism: A Family Conversation (Part3) Anthonia Ogundele
Difficult conversations are tough. Join mine. I interviewed my sister-in-law about her experiences as a Black woman and mother. I learned about some of my blind spots. I’m so grateful for her willingness to share her heart when, truthfully, words probably fall flat. I deeply regret that it took me this long to ask these questions, but Anthonia doesn’t want people to feel sorry- she wants us to feel angry for a system that works against her, her daughter and every person of colour. Join me as my family leans in to honest vulnerability.

Episode 34:
Sibling Rivarly
Reduce conflict immediately! If you will apply this one simple practice in your home, I guarantee you’ll reduce the frequency and frustration of conflict and sibling rivalry. Set aside less than an hour a week to do this activity with your kids.
The One on One is the most powerful activity you can do with your family.
I’ve coached great parents who absolutely love their kids- and yet those same kids believe their parents don’t love them equally.
Children often feel like they don’t measure up in their families. Whether it’s that another sibling is getting more attention (good or bad), or that they themselves are the problem child, kids create hierarchy’s and work to fight their way to the top. Their insecurities create hostile environments and siblings either push to prove their value, or seek revenge against the assumed favourite.
But many parents will say I already do this and it doesn’t make a difference!
But you’re not really affirming their whole selves.
If this is you, listen to the podcast today.

Want to change the world? No, seriously, what if you had a crazy idea to make a movie that would inspire youth to look at themselves differently, but you had literally no idea how to make it happen. This mother/daughter duo pondered the question,’If a girl lived in the forest with no mirrors, magazines or social media – what would beautiful look like to her and how would she see herself?’ Creating something from nothing, This movie is a must-watch for every family on the planet. Being Present
I get to interview my great friend Julie Allan, who teaches a parenting program called ‘Circle of Security’. Julie has this way of presenting hard truths in a way that you feel inspired to look at yourself, and your children, differently. After our conversation we hope you’ll be able to give yourself a little more grace.
Circle of Security is all about finding the courage to be fully present for your children. We aren’t perfect, but we need to be bigger than our kids problems so that they can rely on us to meet their needs. Whether it’s that extra hug when we’re triggered, or discipline when we feel severely under-qualified, our kids need to know that we are bigger, stronger, wiser and kind. Learn more or register for her next class by emailing Julie at dwajulallan@gmail.com
Here is the video about shark music that we reference in the podcast. Notice how our own perceptions, and triggers, make all the difference? What is your shark music? Next time you feel yourself reacting unreasonably, ask yourself if there’s shark music playing for no reason. Perhaps you’re reacting to something in your own past, and often just seeing that is enough to talk us off the ledge of despair.
